“Teaching kids how to feed themselves and how to live in a community responsibly is the center of an education.” ― Alice Waters
Check back May 2020 for fun POP Club information and events!
We are excited to bring the Power of Produce (POP) Children's Club to the Dorey Park Farmers Market! POP Club, provided by the Farmers Market Coalition, is a nationwide initiative that began at the Oregon City Farmers Market in 2011. POP Club provides a fun opportunity for children to engage in our local food system through conversations directly with farmers, educational games and demonstrations, exposure to new fruits and vegetables and learn about the importance of buying local produce.
Children can also participate in the Two Bite Club, tasting a new fruit or vegetable each week to receive $2 in POP Bucks to spend on produce at the market. Our Two Bite Club is sponsored by Colonial Farm Credit.
SIGN UP FOR POP!
Visit the DPFM POP tent between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to register your child and stick around for a fun, farm-friendly activity!
A special thank you to our POP Club sponsors:
Hannah Frazier is our POP Club coordinator and she is assisted by our fantastic group of student volunteers!

DPFM MARKET EVENTS
NON-PROFIT OF THE WEEK
DPFM is pleased to highlight weekly a local non-profit community organization in the space adjacent to the information table at the entrance to the market. These featured non-profits are limited to those that have a direct connection to our Varina and greater Eastern Henrico community or the conservation or healthy living focus of DPFM. Although we are pleased to have those folks at the market, DPFM does not endorse those groups other than to provide them an opportunity to highlight their work.
From time-to-time, other non-profit groups and similar organizations may request space to participate on market day. Just as the non-profit invited to participate as the weekly featured non-profit, these groups will be limited to those with a local connection to our community. DPFM does not discriminate among those who wish to attend the market and set up space to share about their organization other than to limit it to Varina or market-focused groups. Likewise, the presence of these groups is not an endorsement or show of support for their mission or work. These groups will be considered and accompanied strictly on a space-available basis at the discretion of the DPFM.
